Hello, I’m Franck
I am a literary translator and creative language services provider, working from English and Russian into French (France and Belgium).
I offer translation services — particularly in literary translation — as well as transcreation, song lyric adaptation and writing, copywriting and editing.
What I love most about translation, and writing in general, is the satisfaction of finding exactly the right word, whether it’s for a short story, a marketing campaign or a chorus. It’s a process that can take some time: to read, think, feel, let ideas flow, and then sometimes also let them go. However, I think that it’s all part of the process, so that in the end you reach that wonderful moment when you can finally say: yes, I’ve got it.

Je suis traducteur littéraire et prestataire de services linguistiques créatifs. Je travaille de l’anglais et du russe vers le français de France et de Belgique.
Je propose des services de traduction — notamment de traduction littéraire — de transcréation, d’adaptation et d’écriture de paroles de chansons, de rédaction et de correction.
Ce que j’aime par-dessus tout avec la traduction, et plus largement avec l’écriture — qu’il s’agisse d’une nouvelle, d’une campagne de communication ou d’un refrain — c’est de ressentir la satisfaction d’avoir trouvé le mot juste. C’est un processus qui peut prendre du temps : du temps pour lire, réfléchir, ressentir, laisser les idées venir, les laisser partir parfois aussi. Mais il faut en passer par là, je crois, pour qu’à la fin, vienne ce glorieux moment où on peut se dire : c’est bien ça.
My background
To work well together, I feel it’s important to know the person you’re working with. So here’s my life story, or rather, a summary. I’ll spare you the first eighteen years, which aren’t particularly relevant to us here.
At the age of eighteen, having passed my baccalaureate, I left my Alsatian village for the city — Strasbourg — full of hope for a bright future full of adventure. Three years later, in 2016, I graduated with a vocational degree in Image and Sound Techniques and Practices. What does that have to do with translation? Not much, to be honest. But then again, life’s never been a straight path for anyone, has it? And during those three years, I learnt many things that I still use today, including web development, SEO, web writing and graphic design.
Not satisfied (but are we ever?), I decided to resume my studies, but this time in languages. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Strasbourg with a degree in Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations, specialising in Slavic languages.
After this second degree, I began thinking about the future. I’d been interested in translation for a few years, but something was troubling me. It surges, rising from the pit of my stomach to my throat. It’s a burning desire to be elsewhere.
One summer’s day, while idly scrolling on Facebook, I came across a job ad looking for French speakers to work in a call centre in Lisbon. I applied, and a few months later I was in Portugal. I continued my travels in Ireland and Finland, where I again worked in a call centre and then as a tour guide. These two years certainly gave me the opportunity to practise my English, but in the end, I couldn’t help asking myself, what’s the point?
In 2022, I was admitted at the last minute to the Master’s in literary and editorial translation (English–Russian) at the Université libre de Bruxelles. During these two years, I realised that I simply had to turn my passion for words into my future profession. I was glad, but my journey didn’t end there.
After my third graduation in 2024, that restless flame resurfaced: leave again? Yes, I had to.
I completed a few administrative formalities, and flew to St Petersburg. I spent an adventure-filled year there, practising Russian and studying literature at Herzen University.

My passion for music
I’ve always been really passionate about music. After studying music theory, saxophone, guitar, piano and singing, and playing in various bands, I eventually turned to composing. If you’re interested, my tracks are available on Spotify, YouTube and SoundCloud.
I also have a YouTube channel where I share my French adaptations of some well-known songs.
