Literary translation

“The beautiful is nothing but the summit of the true.” — Victor Hugo

The beautiful is your text, is it not? Yet what is this truth that lies beneath it? That truth, surely, is you.

Whether I’m translating a short story, a novel, an essay, a poem or a play script, I always ensure that the French version of your work is just as beautiful as the original, and that behind the lines and the words, we do still recognize you.

Transcreation

“One word and all is saved. One word and all is lost” — André Breton

It’s true, I remember that word which drew the loveliest of smiles and that other which caused so many tears; I remember… oh, forgive me, I digress.

Transcreation is a creative process designed to recreate content while preserving the original message’s intention and emotional impact. This approach is particularly well suited to high-visibility marketing content.

I can adapt your marketing content — whether digital (slogans, banners, landing pages, product descriptions) or print (brochures, posters, sales brochures) — to ensure that nothing gets lost.

Song Lyric Adaptation

“Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion.” — Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

If your song needs to be adapted into French, I believe that it should be done in the same way it was written: with passion.

I adapt your lyrics into a natural, singable French version that preserves the emotion, tone, and rhythm of the original.

Traduction littéraire

« Le beau est la cime du vrai. » — Victor Hugo

So, shall we have a chat?

Unilingual Services

Copywriting

“Life swings like a pendulum backward and forward between pain and boredom.” — Arthur Schopenhauer

Pain, boredom… Oh stop, that’s all rather depressing.

Whether for your online advertising content (slogans, product descriptions, sales pages) or your printed material (advertisements, brochures), I can prove Schopenhauer wrong by crafting texts that engage your readers and lift them out of boredom — no pain required.

Editing and Proofreading

“Happiness is no longer possible in ignorance, certainty alone makes life tranquil.” — Émile Zola

Certainty alone makes life tranquil… Yet what certainty is there in this world?…

Editing enhances your text by improving its flow, style and coherence. I identify heavy or awkward phrasing, restructure sentences and adjust the tone so that your message is clear, pleasant to read and perfectly suited to your audience.

Proofreading is the essential finishing touch for a polished, error-free text. I spot and correct every spelling, grammar and punctuation mistake, as well as any typos, making sure your text is perfect before publication or distribution.

…Ah yes, there is one certainty I can offer: the certainty that your texts will be flawless.

Song Lyric Writing

“There is always a dream that stays awake.” — Louis Aragon

Oh, I have so many dreams… and I’m sure you do too. Perhaps you’re dreaming of adding lyrics to your latest song? If so, I can help.

I offer bespoke lyrics in harmony with your musical world.

FAQ

1. Services and Working Languages

Not exclusively. Anything related to translation and writing in general interests me. If you’re unsure, feel free to get in touch. I’ll let you know whether I can help or whether you’d be better off working with a colleague who is more qualified for your project.

No. I only translate into my native language, French. In my view, it’s the only way to guarantee a high level of fluency, naturalness and accuracy.

French is my native language—the one I live in, think in and write in (including my songs).

English is the international language par excellence. Like many people, I was exposed to English content from an early age, through movies and reading. I also had the opportunity to use it on a daily basis when I lived in Ireland, Finland and Portugal.

I have a deep affection for the Russian language. I lived in Saint Petersburg for a year and in Moscow for a month. I read a lot in Russian and have many Russian-speaking friends, both in France and in Russia.

2. Rates, Deadlines, and Confidentiality

My rates vary depending on the type of service (translation, transcreation, proofreading, etc.), the level of technicality, and the length of the text. Billing can be per word, per hour, or per project. I always provide a personalized quote.

Deadlines depend on the volume, type of text, and level of complexity.
I always provide a realistic estimate in the quote, and I adapt as much as possible to your requirements.

Yes, that’s possible. However, it needs to be discussed beforehand. In such cases, I usually apply a 30% surcharge.

I prefer bank transfers, but I can also accept payment via PayPal or other methods if that’s more convenient for you. The exact terms (amount, due date, account information) are specified in the quote and invoice.

Yes. I never share any information about you without your consent.
I can also sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) if you wish.
Unless you indicate otherwise, I store projects locally and back them up weekly on an external hard drive.

3. Bonus Questions

At the risk of disagreeing with some colleagues, I believe that AI is a tool worth using. I don’t use it to translate or write on my behalf, but it can provide valuable insights when asked the right questions, and sometimes it helps unlock a situation by offering a fresh perspective. I don’t shy away from it.

Life is really complicated. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I resent it. I think that, ideally, life shouldn’t be overthought, but lived. By the way, why are you asking me this question?
